LEGACY

TDF/Works is driven by a deep appreciation for the cars that shaped their eras, spanning historic Formula 1®, LMP and GT machines through to modern-day equivalents.

Our work is guided by an understanding of what defines a car’s authenticity, and the carefully considered engineering decisions needed to preserve it.

BUY, BUILD,
RUN, PROTECT

Every TDF/Works project begins with understanding the car and how you want to use it. Whether helping you source a chassis, carry out a full restoration, or prepare for the track, we work with you to define the right balance between authenticity, reliability, and usability.

We support everything from initial inspection and restoration, through to race preparation, trackside support, maintenance, and long-term protection. Where original components are fragile or obsolete, we re-engineer parts in-house, safeguarding both performance and provenance so the car can continue to be driven and enjoyed.

FAQ

How much does a TDF/Works build or restoration cost?

Costs vary depending on the car, its condition, the owner’s vision, and the technical complexity of the work. Whether it’s a full Formula 1® restoration, a GT rebuild, or a bespoke motorsport project, each commission requires a tailored engineering plan.

After assessing the vehicle and understanding your goals, we provide a clear proposal outlining scope, budget, and delivery timeline.

How long does a TDF/Works project take?

Project length depends entirely on the nature of the build or restoration. Historic race cars often require deep inspection, bespoke components, or specialist fabrication, which can extend timelines.

Some commissions take several months; others, particularly ground-up F1 restorations or complex re-engineering programmes, may span years.

Once we evaluate the car and your brief, we create a detailed schedule aligned with the complexity of the work.

Is TDF/Works only for Formula 1® cars?

No. TDF/Works supports all forms of high-performance, collectible, and competition machinery. Alongside Formula 1®, we restore and build GT cars, Le Mans prototypes, rally cars, hypercars, and other rare or exotic vehicles.

Our engineering team also works on low-volume manufacture, prototype development, and bespoke technical projects, offering owners and brands a discreet pathway to bring ambitious ideas to life.

Can TDF/Works handle full ground-up F1 rebuilds?

Yes. With a team of former Formula 1® engineers and full in-house manufacturing capability, we deliver complete F1 restorations - from chassis refurbishment and powertrain solutions to electronics, hydraulics, and track support.

Whether the brief demands period-correct accuracy or performance-focused development, we have the expertise to execute it.

How do you source or manufacture parts for historic race cars?

Many components for older race cars no longer exist within traditional supply chains. Through TDF/Precision, we scan, design, and manufacture parts in-house using CNC machining, advanced materials, and 3D-print technology.

When available, we can also integrate original stock or owner-supplied components. This capability allows us to complete restorations that would otherwise be impossible.

Are Formula 1® cars a good investment?

The market for collectible Formula 1® cars has grown significantly, with increased interest from collectors, drivers, and investors worldwide.

Provenance, originality, and mechanical support play a major role in valuation, and high-quality restorations have shown strong long-term performance as assets.

While all investments carry risk, F1 cars, particularly those supported by reputable engineering partners, have become one of the most sought-after categories in the motorsport collector market*.

Do you support owners once the restoration is complete?

Yes. TDF/Works offers ongoing preparation, maintenance, and trackside support to ensure each car performs as intended.

Through TDF/Events, owners also gain access to driving opportunities around the world, which helps protect both the enjoyment and long-term value of their cars.
